The Bank Building
About this Stop
The First Bank of LaBelle was built in 1925. It is one of the few buildings in LaBelle that dates to the Florida Land Boom of the 1920's. The first floor was divided between the Bank and the Clark and Royer Drug Store. The second floor was designed as office space. The Bank did not survive the Great Depression of the 1930's. In the intervening decades, different types of shops and stores occupied the first floor while the 2nd floor was converted to apartments. The full length arcade was demolished in the 1980s. Evidence of the original columns are still visible in the sidewalk.
