The Hendry House was built in 1914 as a retirement home for Captain Hendry. He occupied the house briefly, when for reasons of declining health, he moved back to Fort Myers in 1915. Captain and Mrs. Hendry sold the house and its adjoining 20 acres in 1916. Captain Hendry died in 1917. The house went through multiple owners and uses. After years of neglect, a campaign to buy and restore the house was led by Mayor Sherri Craichy. The City of Labelle owns the house. It was nominated to the National Historic Register in 1998.
